Eindhoven travel information

Looking for Eindhoven travel information? You've come to the right place! This page will show you how you can travel to the city, but it also offers you some information on how to get around town.

Basically, there are three ways you can travel to the city: by car, by train, or by plane to the local airport.

By car

Traveling to Eindhoven isn’t that hard, as long as you avoid the morning and the evening rush hours, when traffic jams all the way from the city boundaries to the center (Eindhoven’s traffic is among the worst in the country, although large-scale highway upgrading projects have already started). Once you arrive at your destination, the main problem you will encounter will be where to park your car. Eindhoven is a busy place, especially in the downtown area, and parking isn’t cheap. Ask for specific information at the hotel you’re staying.

Traveling to Eindhoven by car – like traveling by car to most other large cities in Holland – is not recommended, because you will frequently run into traffic jams and other unexpected delays.

By train

The second way of traveling to Eindhoven is by train. Eindhoven has a train station in the middle of the downtown area, and regular connections to most other large cities in the Netherlands make it easy to visit Eindhoven or make a daytrip to another city.

It’s a short walk from the station to the downtown shopping center, which also offers many bars and clubs and good accommodations. It’s easy to take one of the many buses leaving from the bus station at the rear of the train station. They will be able to take you just about anywhere in the city and its surrounding area. Taxi’s are available too, but relatively expensive.

By airplane

Finally, you can also get to Eindhoven by airplane. Eindhoven Airport is small, but comfortable and just a 20-minute bus ride to the downtown area and the train station. Some major airlines, like KLM, fly to and from this airport during the day and evenings. London, England, is the most popular connection; it’s a one-hour flight away.
